F1 2018 Ethiad Airways Abu Dhabi GP on 23-25 November 2018

The 2018 FORMULA 1 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP will be hosting the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi at Yas Marina Circuit. Taking place on the 23, 24, 25 November, the 2018 FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX is the Middle East’s biggest international sporting event and the only twilight race on the F1® calendar, which will also host GP2 and GP3.

Abu Dhabi is a city on the move. Not content with enjoying one of the world’s richest oil reserves, the region has recently thrown itself into a massive programme of development. And one of the jewels in Abu Dhabi’s crown is the 5.55-kilometre Yas Marina Circuit, which on November 1, 2009, hosted the country’s inaugural Grand Prix. It was also the first F1 twighlight race, with powerful lighting ensuring a seamless transition from day to night.

Located on the spectacular Yas Island, the track is a shining example of modern Formula One circuit design. Boasting top speeds of 325 km/h and average speeds of 190km/h, it features nine right turns and 12 left turns and is one of the few venues on the calendar to run in an anti-clockwise direction.

CONCERTS @ DU ARENA

Nov. 22nd: POST MALONE

Post Malone will kick-off the after-race concerts on the evening of November 22. The 23-year-old is a divisive figure in contemporary hip-hop — and a surprisingly popular Halloween costume — who got his first taste of success with his debut single White Iverson in 2015. The following year, he released his first album Stoney, landing a Top 10 spot on the American charts. This year, he released his sophomore album Beerbongs & Bentleys, featuring his first No 1 single, Rockstar, with fellow rapper 21 Savage.

Nov. 23rd: THE WEEKND

R’n’B hit-maker The Weeknd will return to the UAE to perform on November 23. The three-time Grammy Award-winning artist rose to fame with hits such as The Hills, Can’t Feel My Face and Starboy. Born Abel Tesfaye, the notoriously private singer-songwriter puts it all on the line in his music, sonically inspired by the likes of Michael Jackson. And though Tesfaye has made headlines for his private life, too — he’s currently dating model Bella Hadid — he often leaves his listeners guessing on what goes on behind his decadent lyrics.

Nov. 24th: SAM SMITH

Grammy Award-winning singer Sam Smith will make his UAE debut when he headlines the Yasalam After-Race Concerts on November 24. The British singer-songwriter has two albums to his name — his 2014 debut, The Lonely Hour, and his 2017 follow-up, The Thrill Of It All. Known for his emotive vocal performances, Smith has climbed the charts with hits such as Stay With Me, Money on My Mind and Too Good at Goodbyes.

Nov. 25th: GUNS N’ROSES

Guns N’ Roses are heading back to the UAE to perform on November 25 in Abu Dhabi. The gig comes just over a year after their debut Dubai performance. The Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child o’ Mine and Paradise City rockers put on a three-hour set at Dubai’s Autism Rocks Arena in 2017. This followed the band’s historic reunion tour in 2016, which ended a decades-long rift between frontman Axl Rose and guitarist Slash. The full band — including Duff McKagan on bass — will once again entertain the UAE, wrapping up a weekend of star-studded performances.
