Guest of honor
China is this year’s Guest of Honour at the 27th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2017.
The great philosopher and writer of the Age of Enlightenment, Voltaire, describes the Chinese culture saying: “The system of the Empire of China is in all honesty the finest system the world has ever seen.”
Additionally, 20th-century Baltic German philosopher, Count Keyserling, says: “Classical China turned the ideals of perfect humanity into everyday living and produced an unequalled culture of human being.”
In this regard, the opportunity to experience and understand the Chinese cultural paradigm is considered a vital addition in today’s times when the world needs a successful model that differs from the norm, and inhabits a traditional land that is safeguarded by heritage, traditions and customs.
The display of Chinese literary culture will cover publications, literature, arts and all cultural manifestations, highlighting the country’s success in fortifying its presence in the modern world. In addition, China’s impact on the Old World will be recalled through the Silk Road, a historically important international trade route between China and the Mediterranean which received wide attention and an audience in Arab and international cultural circles. It has now been revived in a new cultural mold, in which Abu Dhabi is considered one of its most important hubs.
China’s participation in ADIBF 2017 will be the country’s largest in foreign book fairs to date. China’s large pavilion will reflect its cultural depth and weight, with special participation of Chinese publishers, elite authors, artists and others from all fields of creativity.
